The Wings Club Writes Next Chapter In Storied History
**The Wings Club Foundation, Inc. Positions Club for the Future**
NEW YORK, Feb. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wings Club today announces the merger of The Wings Club Inc. and The Wings Club Scholarship Fund, Inc. The new organization will now be known as The Wings Club Foundation, Inc. Charitable contributions to the new 501(c) (3) entity will be tax deductible.
Barry Eccleston, President & CEO of Airbus Americas and President of The Wings Club noted, "The Wings Club has played an important role in the development of aviation since its founding in 1942, and has now achieved another significant milestone. We have put the structure in place to ensure that our longstanding mission to support the advancement and development of aviation can go forward well into the future."
The Foundation's concept is to build an endowment to foster educational opportunities for individuals pursuing an education in the field of aviation and to support organizations that use aviation to help those in need. The new structure will provide the organization to expand the outreach of the current Scholarship Fund, and take it to the next level. Projects to generate interest in aviation careers and to support charitable organizations that use aircraft to deliver humanitarian aid and outreach will be added to the Foundation's mandate.
The regular Aviation Leader Series Luncheons , the 'Sight Lecture', the Annual Awards Gala, and other established events will continue and fulfill key functions of the new organization by providing and promoting a platform for discussion of industry issues and education.
"On an historic occasion such as this there are many people to thank, starting with the co-chairs of the Development Committee, Dave Barger, CEO JetBlue Airways and David McKay, President & CEO U.S. Aviation Underwriters and Wings Club Counsel, Robert Craft, partner Holland & Knight LLC for their tireless work to bring the merger of these two entities to fruition," said Eccleston. "Then we must turn to the Board of Governors of the Wings Club Scholarship Fund, under the able leadership of President Abdol Moabery for providing the cornerstone upon which the Foundation's scholarship efforts will be built. We thank them and look forward to their continued contributions in the new organization," he concluded.
