The Winebow Group Promotes Monique Huston to National Spirits Director
RICHMOND, Va., March 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Winebow Group, a national importer and distributor of fine wine and craft spirits, is pleased to announce the promotion of Monique Huston, previously Director of Spirits, Midwest, to the newly created position of National Spirits Director. Huston will be based in Chicago and report to Chris Mitchell, Senior Vice President of Portfolio Management.
"We are thrilled to welcome Monique into this newly created role as we strengthen the support and resources behind our spirits portfolio," said Mitchell. "With over 18 years of extensive industry experience, Monique has the expertise, energy, vision and leadership to take our spirits to the next level. We are very optimistic about the future of craft spirits within our company, especially since they have such a complementary appeal to the fine wine drinker who has, historically, been our focus."
"It is an honor to work with such a wonderful collection of family-owned, craft brands and the passionate, dedicated producers behind them," said Huston. "I fully believe in the direction our company is taking and I am confident that we have the competitive edge and unique position to lead the craft spirits category nationally."
Huston will work closely with a team of dedicated spirits brand managers and education specialists across the 20-state distribution footprint of The Winebow Group. In conjunction with other senior leaders, she will oversee portfolio management, strategic planning, operations and education initiatives.
Huston began her spirits career almost two decades ago at the Dundee Dell in Omaha, Nebraska, where she helped create one of the largest whisky bars in the world, with over 1,000 single malts and 1,200 other spirits. After spending a year in Spain, where she continued her whisky and sherry education, Huston became the Elite Spirits Portfolio Manager at Stoller Wholesale Distributing in 2012 before joining The Winebow Group in 2015.
As an avid spokesperson and educator, Huston has served as a panelist and judge at events and competitions around the country. She has contributed to numerous publications and been featured in the Whisky Advocate and the Wall Street Journal. In addition to being a member of the United States Bartenders' Guild (USBG), she is on the board of the Bourbon Women Association and has been inducted into the exclusive international society, Keepers of the Quaich.
