The Whitney Gardens: Detroit's Summer Destination
DETROIT, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Whitney Gardens, Midtown Detroit's favorite outdoor dining and entertainment destination, opens tomorrow (June 2) for the spring and summer season with a freshened look, a new Tuesday-Friday half-off food and drinks 4-6 p.m. Happy Hour, and a jam-packed new entertainment schedule.
The Whitney Gardens will feature live entertainment most nights, Tuesday through Saturday, with the Allan Barnes Trio playing their contemporary jazz sounds on Fridays, The Coachmen with their popular smooth musical stylings Saturdays and a variety of bands, vocalists and miscellaneous jazz offerings Tuesday through Thursday nights. In addition to a new casual garden menu, diners also will be able to enjoy The Whitney's signature fine dining in the privacy of the rear garden area or inside the mansion.
"We've come to view The Whitney as three distinct experiences – the restaurant itself, which is the heart of everything we do, the third floor Ghost Bar and the Gardens," said The Whitney's owner, Bud Liebler. "Each has its own unique atmosphere, but they all serve excellent food and drink at an affordable price and in the classic Whitney style. The gardens are a very special place where everybody and every age group can mingle and enjoy a great summer evening outdoors, a real oasis in the city."
The Whitney Gardens are open Tuesday through Friday for lunch, Happy Hour, entertainment and dinner, and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. for casual or formal dinners and entertaining. The Whitney Signature Sunday Brunch, with its famous "bottomless Mimosas," and live piano music (inside the mansion) will be available in the gardens or inside the mansion from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
"We're doing everything we can to make The Whitney the destination for dining and entertainment for the entire metro Detroit area this summer," Liebler said. "We want to get people back into the city and to The Whitney and we're confident that once they experience our gardens they'll come back again.
