DUBLIN, Ohio, Sept. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wendy's Company (NASDAQ: WEN) announced today the appointment of E.J. Wunsch, 45, as the Company's General Counsel and Secretary, and a member of the Senior Leadership Team, effective October 3, 2016. He will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Todd Penegor.
E.J. joins Wendy's from The Procter & Gamble Company, where he spent the last 17 years in legal roles of increasing responsibility, including his most recent assignment as Vice President and General Counsel of Procter & Gamble's North America business, as well as leading the company's global antitrust and mergers and acquisitions practices. Prior to that, E.J. was based in Singapore and served as Associate General Counsel for Procter & Gamble's Asia Innovation, Commerce and Brand Equity matters, where he had overall legal responsibility for the company's patent, trademark and advertising issues throughout Asia.
Before moving to Singapore, E.J. held various roles at Procter & Gamble, including serving as Assistant Secretary to the Board of Directors and Associate General Counsel for their securities, corporate governance and employee benefits law matters. He also spent time in their mergers and acquisitions and licensing practice, and held a variety of roles supporting the company's business units throughout his career.

Prior to joining Procter & Gamble in 1999, E.J. served as an associate in the law firm of Taft, Stettinius & Hollister and as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard F. Suhrheinrich on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
E.J. is a native of Ohio, and received a B.S. in Finance from Miami University, magna cum laude and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif.
