PEWAUKEE, Wis., March 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wellness Network (TWN) and the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) today announced the release of an exciting new video resource that supports diabetes educators and other health care professionals in educating Americans who have, are affected by or are at risk for diabetes.
"Managing Your Diabetes" introduces patients and caregivers to the AADE7 Self-Care Behaviors™, 7 key areas of focus for helping people with diabetes manage this complex disease. This series, which was co-produced by TWN and AADE, is available in both English and Spanish and is being offered through TWN's extensive library of patient education programming available in hospitals and health systems nationwide. AADE members will also have exclusive access to the videos.
Two active AADE members, Jasmine Gonzalvo, Clinical Associate Professor at Purdue University and Cecilia Sauter, Clinical Project Manager at University of Michigan Health System, were featured in the series. Both Ms Gonzalvo and Ms Sauter shared their enthusiasm for having relatable education available to patients and their families. Charles Macfarlane, president and CEO of AADE noted, "We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to partner with TWN to create an educational video resource that provides practical diabetes management tips from both diabetes educators and people with diabetes."
In co-developing and promoting these diabetes education videos, TWN and AADE shared the common goal of providing trustworthy, highly effective and accurate diabetes education that is engaging and relevant to anyone who is dealing with diabetes. The real-life stories of several people who have diabetes make the series a particularly useful tool for diabetes educators working with their patients.
"I'm very proud of this partnership with AADE. The Wellness Network will help hospitals and clinics integrate these important diabetes videos into workflow, making it easier for nurses and educators to help patients at the point of care," says Dave Ross, CEO of The Wellness Network. "This series will give people with diabetes some highly useful tools to better manage their disease and improve their quality of life."
