The Weather Network Delivers its Fall Forecast
Warm Fall and Active Hurricane Season Expected
NEW YORK, Sept. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ - The Weather Network's team of meteorologists has released their Fall Forecast through to November. Warmer than normal temperatures are expected to dominate the season across much of the US, especially across the eastern and western thirds of the country. Central regions will see more frequent fluctuations in temperature and are expected to be near normal overall. For areas that have been experiencing drought conditions, there is little relief expected over the coming months.
Meteorologists have been monitoring the potential for La Niña conditions to develop in the Pacific Ocean due to the significant impacts that it historically has on weather across North America. With La Niña struggling to become established, above normal water temperatures off the West and East Coasts will become a more significant driver of the weather pattern over the coming months.
"The fall months will be great for those who loved the summer we've had. We're looking at temperatures to be at or above normal across the country," said Chris Scott, Chief Meteorologist with The Weather Network. "Late summer weather is expected to persist well into autumn which will be great for enjoying outdoor activities, although temperature swings typical of the season will still occur."
The Atlantic hurricane season will continue to be active with an enhanced risk for tropical storms or hurricanes to impact the Eastern Seaboard and Gulf Coast. While more sunny days than normal are expected across the eastern half of the country, there is the potential for a couple tropical systems to bring excessive rainfall to some areas.
