ATLANTA, Oct. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH) Partnership presented The Weather Channel (TWC) with the Outstanding Dedication and Public Service Award for the network's exceptional coverage during the 2017 historic weather outbreak. The award was presented by the FLASH Board of Directors and accepted by TWC CEO Dave Shull at the National Disaster Resilience Conference in Atlanta.
"The dedicated researchers, forecasters, and meteorologists of The Weather Channel demonstrate an unwavering commitment to providing information to their viewers and community before, during, and after severe weather events," said FLASH President and CEO Leslie Chapman-Henderson. "Because of their excellence, families in harm's way are safe ahead of the storm, and their homes are better protected as well."
In 2016, FLASH brought FEMA, NOAA, and TWC together to create the National Hurricane Resilience Initiative - #HurricaneStrong.
