WASHINGTON, Aug. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SCORE –www.score.org-, mentors to America's small business, is proud to announce Brian Moran, former Executive Director for the Wall Street Journal –www.wsj.com-, as one of two 2012 winners of the Lou Campanelli Award. The award is given annually and recognizes outstanding individual volunteerism, leadership, vision and philanthropy in support of small business, entrepreneurship and SCORE.
Moran has played a pivotal role in helping keep America's small businesses growing strong and prosperous. In addition, he has helped to serve small business owners by creating awareness, building relationships and providing an unending stream of moral support. He has continuously advocated for small business growth in the U.S. through his work with multiple publications including Inc. Magazine, Entrepreneur Media and The Wall Street Journal and his numerous speaking engagements to small business owners and influencers. He also serves on the Board of several entrepreneurial organizations including The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council, The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council and The Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies.
"Brian Moran is more than deserving of the esteemed SCORE Lou Campanelli Award as he has been an advocate and supporter of America's small business community, and therefore of SCORE, for over twenty years," said Ken Yancey, SCORE CEO. "As a publisher for numerous entrepreneurial and business publications since the early nineties, Brian has been a voice of information, advice and support for small business owners striving to realize their goals."
"I am honored to be receiving the Lou Campanelli award this year from SCORE," commented Moran. "It is a privilege to be considered in the same company as Rieva Lesonsky, my co-recipient this year, as well as the past recipients and all that they have done for small businesses."
Brian Moran will be recognized for his achievement at the SCORE Awards Gala in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 16, 2012. The award was first presented to Louis Campanelli of Port Washington, New York in 2006 in honor of his dedicated volunteerism and efforts to build a philanthropic culture for SCORE.
