WASHINGTON, June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Newly appointed U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) President Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake issued the following statement in support of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) legislation in the U.S. Senate:
"The U.S. Conference of Mayors applauds yesterday's Senate procedural vote supporting Trade Promotion Authority and calls for final passage. The Conference recently concluded its 83rd Annual Meeting in San Francisco where we reaffirmed our policy in support of TPA and the Administration's completion of high standard, 21st Century trade deals with Pacific Rim and Trans-Atlantic nations.
"The nation's mayors now call on Congress to pass reauthorization of Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) that will provide resources to US workers who may need re-training and employment services due to foreign competition. TAA has helped over 2.2 million workers since it's inception and is an important safety net for them."
