The U.S. Conference Of Mayors Applauds Senate Vote On Trade Promotion Authority Legislation, Call On Congress To Pass Trade Adjustment Assistance

WASHINGTON, June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Newly appointed U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) President Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake issued the following statement in support of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) legislation in the U.S. Senate:

"The U.S. Conference of Mayors applauds yesterday's Senate procedural vote supporting Trade Promotion Authority and calls for final passage. The Conference recently concluded its 83^rd Annual Meeting in San Francisco where we reaffirmed our policy in support of TPA and the Administration's completion of high standard, 21st Century trade deals with Pacific Rim and Trans-Atlantic nations.

"The nation's mayors now call on Congress to pass reauthorization of Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) that will provide resources to US workers who may need re-training and employment services due to foreign competition.
