The University of Oregon Athletic Department Expands Its Use of TigerLogic's Social Media Visualizer Postano
IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of Oregon Athletic Department, known for innovation across all aspects of its brand, recently became the first athletics program in the NCAA to create a dedicated social media command center, which they have titled the "Quack Cave." Located deep in the bowels of Autzen Stadium, the command center was built to monitor all the social media buzz associated with the Ducks, including content generated by their coaches, players, teams and fans to further amplify the social energy surrounding Oregon Athletics.
Known in college football circles for the no-huddle offense (which runs at an average of 15 seconds from the placement of the ball to the snap, a pace which tires opposing defenses out), and the most innovative uniforms via their partnership with Nike, the athletic department selected TigerLogic's social media visualization platform – PostanoTM – to power the Quack Cave.
Postano will be used as a customized monitoring dashboard to aggregate, integrate and display every aspect of the Ducks' social media presence to allow for easy comprehension and sharing.
In selecting Postano to power the Quack Cave, Craig Pintens, Senior Associate Athletic Director, noted that the University had "evaluated over 10 different solutions, and found them all missing one element. However, about 30 seconds into the demo, we realized that Postano was perfect for our purposes and knew we needed it to provide the backbone for the Quack Cave."
The Quack Cave was in full swing in its season opener versus Arkansas State. Visualization of social media content allowed Quack Cave staffers to keep up with all the latest tweets, photos, news and updates; allowing the University to run their social media campaigns at a pace that matched the speed of the on-field product. During the Arkansas State game, Postano made it possible for the UO team to catch and share Lebron James' tweet on the Oregon football uniforms, something the team would have otherwise missed.
This performance has led the Oregon mascot, the Duck, to also select Postano to power his 2012 Presidential campaign website http://www.duck2012.com. As part of the Duck2012 campaign, the Duck will be making a campaign swing through New York to attend the MDB "Bright Lights" conference on September 10, 2012, and lend his support to the TigerLogic team as they present their cutting edge social media technology to investors and media in attendance.
