The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Announces Winners of the Small, Medium, Large Chambers
Recipients from across the nation recognized at national convention in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) celebrated today three Hispanic chambers from across the nation for their accomplishments, contributions and commitment to raising the profile of Hispanic-owned business and helping them compete through resources, education and awareness.
The recipients were honored during the USHCC's 33rd Annual National Convention in Los Angeles, the country's largest gathering of Hispanic business leaders and entrepreneurs.

The winners of the USHCC Small, Medium and Large Chamber Awards are:
Small: Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
The Small Hispanic Chamber of the Year Award was presented to the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, which was started in 2008 to support and promote new business opportunities for Hispanic-owned business in the Quad Cities and surrounding areas in Illinois and Iowa. Today, the chamber has more than 200 members and offers programs like a multicultural speaker series and mixers, workshops and webinars.
Medium: The Latino Entrepreneurial Network, Inc.
The Medium Hispanic Chamber of the Year Award went to The Latino Entrepreneurial Network, Inc. Based in of Wisconsin, the chamber offers services and educational programs for business owners in the community. Among the organizations' priorities are to educate low-income and undeserved individuals on various business topics and raise entrepreneurial awareness through bilingual services and professional development. The network comprises 300 members and has served 600 people in the area since it was founded in 2005.
Large: Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando
The Large Hispanic Chamber of the Year Award was presented to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando, which has provided leadership, served as a resource and developed programs aimed at improving the economic development of the Hispanic-business community in the region. It is the largest organization representing Hispanic-business owners in Central Florida with more than 1,200 members in its roster—helping to strengthen the relations with companies, organizations and professionals in the area for more than two decades. Among the programs this chamber has implemented is a Latin Food and Wine Festival and an "Hablemos de Negocios" ("Let's Talk Business") radio show.
The Small, Medium and Large Hispanic Chamber of the Year Awards honor accomplished Hispanic chambers of commerce that serve fewer than 249 members, between 250 and 499 members, and more than 500 members, respectively. Each year, Hispanic Chambers and Professional Trade Associations select the winners—honored for their outstanding leadership, community service and advocacy for local Hispanic enterprises.
Small businesses represent 64 percent of all jobs in the United States and Hispanic small businesses are the fastest-growing segment in this sector. Despite a sluggish economy, Latino business grew by more than 40 percent in the last five years with no signs of slowing down.
