The United Planning Organization Sets Board Elections
WASHINGTON, Sept. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of the United Planning Organization, announces upcoming elections for open seats on its body representing Wards 1 & 3; 4 & 5; and 7 in the District of Columbia. UPO's governing board consists of 21-members, seven of whom are appointed by District of Columbia senior elected officials (DC's Mayor, Chairman of the Council of the District of Columbia, and DC's Congressional Representative). Another seven represent major groups of interest; and seven individuals represent low-income residents who are elected by residents in the precincts indicated below. This election is to fill three of those seats.
A representative must be elected for Wards 1 & 3; Wards 4 & 5; and Ward 7. UPO community elections are set for Tuesday, November 1st, 2011. Election packets are available at 301 Rhode Island Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20001. UPO is seeking qualified candidates to run for the open seats. Candidates must live within the wards' prescribed boundaries and be at least 21-years of age. Prescribed boundaries include:
