The United Planning Organization Sets Board Elections
WASHINGTON, April 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of the United Planning Organization today announced upcoming elections for one open seat on its body representing Wards 1 and 3 in the District of Columbia. UPO's governing board consists of 21 members, seven of whom are appointed by District of Columbia senior elected officials (DC's Mayor, Chairman of the Council of the District of Columbia, and DC's Congressional Representative). Another seven represent major groups of interest; and seven individuals are elected by customers served.
One person must be elected to represent Wards 1 and 3. UPO community elections are set for Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Election packets are available at 301 Rhode Island Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20001.
UPO is seeking qualified candidates to run for the open seats. Candidates must live within the wards' prescribed boundaries and be at least 21 years of age. Prescribed boundaries include:
DC Voting Precincts (Ward 1) 20, 22 ,23,36,37,38,39,41,43, and 137 and DC Voting Precincts (Ward 3) 7, 27, and 28.
Applications for nomination are due on May 6, 2011.
