The Tower Companies Promotes David Borchardt to Chief Sustainability Officer

ROCKVILLE, Md., May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tower Companies announces today that David Borchardt, P.E., LEED® AP BD+C has been promoted to Chief Sustainability Officer.

Borchardt was hired in 2005 as Director of Sustainable Development overseeing 4.5 million square feet of office buildings, office parks, 1,400 apartments, regional malls, residential communities, lifestyle centers, and hotels within the DC area. Since then, he has established himself as a key spokesperson for Tower's numerous sustainable projects and played a vital role in the integration of the company's green vision throughout. He is responsible for ensuring that The Tower Companies' goals for environmentally conscious and sustainable development are incorporated into all future and existing buildings and land development. Mr. Borchardt is a Licensed Professional Engineer and a LEED Accredited Professional.

Most recently, Mr. Borchardt was invited – along with Jeffrey S. Abramson – to give a presentation at Harvard Business School, which has published a Case Study on the Tower Companies' headquarters. Borchardt started his career in construction as a field engineer in the power industry, which evolved into a position consulting to the Federal Government on the environmental clean up of Cold War weapons sites.  Prior to joining The Tower Companies, Mr. Borchardt was the Assistant Director of Facility Planning for Dewberry, where he developed and implemented a new facility evaluation and long range planning process for job training campuses around the country.
