The Taft University System Tackles COVID-19
Decades of Experience in Distance Education Pays Off for Students
LAKEWOOD, Colo., April 3, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The global COVID-19 crisis has brought rapid change to the world of business, education, socialization, and more. Increasingly, schools and businesses are having to get creative and make big changes to how they operate and what they offer. This forced innovation has not worked very well for many schools or for those students suddenly stuck at home. For The Taft University System, which has been providing distance education for over 40 years, it is business as usual.
As universities both big and small are now making the rapid move to online education, it is important to consider those who have led the way with online programs versus those who are operating in emergency mode. The Taft University System has been a leader in distance education for decades. We offered correspondence study programs in the 1970s & 1980s before transitioning to online as the internet became more prevalent in the 1990s – and we continue to provide high-quality, flexible study online programs designed for working professionals.
As traditional brick and mortar schools (and their students) are discovering, on-campus curriculum cannot be directly moved to an online setting with the same expected results. The best online programs are created uniquely for the online environment while employing best practices honed over years of refinement. In particular, the faculty must have special training in providing online instruction (the "sage on the stage becomes a guide on the side"). The U.S. Department of Education recognizes this by approving only one accrediting commission specialized in distance education.
At The Taft University System, we offer Post-Graduate level degree programs in business, education and law. Our business degree programs include Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Taxation, and Doctor of Business Administration. For educators, we offer a Master of Education and three Education Specialist or Doctor of Education concentrations. Law students choose between an Attorney Track Juris Doctorate, Executive Track Juris Doctorate or a Master of Laws (with a concentration in Taxation). All these programs are designed specifically for online instruction and thus are flexible and affordable. You can find more information at www.Taft.edu.
While we always keep our tuition affordable for working professionals, we are also currently offering multiple grants and a scholarship. We have an MBA Spring Flash Grant for the April 15, 2020 start date, offering 25% off tuition. In addition, we have our EdD Leadership Grant offering 25% off standard tuition. This year, our Annual Roger J. Duthoy Scholarship Program is awarding one full, one 75%, and one 50% scholarship to exceptional applicants who are passionate about contributing to the field of education.
