From its origin as a television routing service in the New York metropolitan area, The Switch has grown to provide its unique customer controlled routing services in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Miami as well as internationally in London and Toronto. The company has expanded in 2004 to provide long distance video transmission service between each of its locations through a service offering called, Inter-City on Demand (ICOD).
The Switch's revolutionary, ICOD service allows customers to immediately establish inter-city connections directly from their touch screen Switch Control System. Offering both 270 Mbps Uncompressed SDI and 1.485 Gbps Uncompressed HD-SDI, ICOD offers the flexibility of immediate or reserved intercity transmissions in increments as low as one minute.
In 2009, The Switch added SDI and HD-SDI local circuitry to its bouquet of services. Through agreements with both AT&T and Verizon, The Switch now offers cost-effective local fiber circuits to customers in 31 states and Washington, D.C.
