The Steve Weatherford World Champion Foundation and STOPit Team Up To Send Underprivileged Kids on Holiday Shopping Spree
50 Morristown, NJ children to make holiday dreams come true at local Target store
MORRISTOWN, N.J., Dec. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Steve Weatherford World Champion Foundation and STOPit, the Bedminster, NJ technology company that provides anti-bullying solutions, announced today they are sponsoring a special holiday shopping spree for 50 underprivileged children in Morristown, NJ. STOPit is donating $4,000 to Steve Weatherford's foundation, with $2500 that will go to the kids for the shopping spree, and the remaining $1500 towards Weatherford's Project Prom anti-bullying initiative. Each of the children will receive a $50 gift card to spend on toys at the East Hanover, NJ Target department store, where store managers will help the kids choose from many of the season's most popular toy items.
"What's Christmas without a gift under the tree?" asks sports celebrity Steve Weatherford, who heads up the World Champion Foundation bearing his name. "I grew up in a family that didn't have much and I know that, for me, receiving a toy I really wanted on the holidays stimulated my imagination and kick started my dreams for securing a better life. I want to give these kids that kind of experience, too."
"At STOPit, we provide children with tools to help them deal with and deter acts of bullying and cyberbullying. With this event, we want to show kids something more: that they can overcome obstacles - and that people out there do care about them," reports Todd Schobel, the Founder and CEO of STOPit.
Donald Shauger, close friend of Weatherford's and owner of Next Level Training in Cedar Knolls, NJ, one of the gyms Weatherford trains at, is arranging to transport the kids and their families to the East Hanover Target on Monday, Dec. 7th at 4:30pm where they will shop the toy department for their special spending spree.
The initiative between STOPit and The Steve Weatherford World Champion Foundation is the first between these two organizations that share a passion for putting an end to bullying.
