The State Museum of Pennsylvania Offers Learn at Lunchtime Series
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 13, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The State Museum of Pennsylvania will again offer free admission during the lunchtime hours on designated Fridays this summer. It is all part of the Museum's "Learn at Lunchtime" series.
Beginning Friday, June 21, free guided tours of the popular "Art of the State" exhibit and the museum's history and science galleries will be offered between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The tours will be offered every Friday through August 30.
"We inaugurated 'Learn at Lunchtime' last year as a way to highlight 'Art of the State,'" State Museum Director David Dunn said. "It was so popular that we decided to continue it as a museum sampler with a different content focus each week in addition to the art exhibit."
Weekly themes led by State Museum curators will range from paleontology, archaeology and zoology to the Civil War, which is especially relevant as this year marks the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.
The Planetarium will also be featured as well as a glimpse into the design history of the State Museum and State Archives Complex.
