The Society of Wine Educators' 39th Annual Conference in New Orleans: Big Sessions, Big Cocktails, Big Food in the Big Easy
NEW YORK, May 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society of Wine Educators will hold its 39th Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA, August 12th – 14th, at the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel.
New Orleans is a favorite location for the Annual Conference, since the city is the perfect setting for sensory overload—exceptional cocktails, Cajun cuisine and live jazz, with many such SWE events already in place. The core of the experience, however, will be the sessions themselves: this year SWE enhances its reputation of producing one of the most provocative and informative wine education events of the year by offering over 60 sessions, presented by a record number—67—of leaders from the beverage alcohol industry. In addition to original topics covering France, Italy, the US, Spain, Portugal, Chile and Argentina, sessions will also cover emerging regions such as the Republic of Georgia, Turkey, Slovenia and China. As always, a range of spirits is also represented, with sessions on Scotch, Agave, Rum, Hard Cider, Bitters and Vermouth.
Some of the highlights of the Conference include: "The Secret Life of Pinot Noir", presented by Jane Nickles, CSS, CWE; "Sherry: A Perfect Food Wine", given by Edward Korry, CSS, CWE; and "Wines and Regions of Northern Italy: From Friuli to Piemonte", by Eric Hemmer, CWE, MS, MW. Giving attendees the true flavor of New Orleans, there will be a number of sessions hosted by local chefs. These include "Oysters and Champagne with Galatoire's Restaurant", hosted by Michael Sichel, Executive Chef of Galatoire's; Chef Slade Rushing of Brennan's Restaurant; Chef Mike Brewer of The Sammich; and Chef Jared Tees, of 18 Steak.
Attendees register directly at www.societyofwineeducators.org/conference, where they can view the entire conference brochure and sign up for specific sessions.
During Preconference (August 10th and 11th), special previews and exams for all certifications (Certified Wine Specialist, Certified Specialist of Spirits, Certified Wine Educator, and, for the first time, Certified Spirits Educator) will be offered. During this time, two Bordeaux Master Classes, two Australia Master Classes and a special Bordeaux/Australia Joint Session will also be conducted.
Between the professional development seminars, unparalleled networking, unique walking tours and sensational wine, food and cocktails, this is a Conference not to be missed.
