SCHAUMBURG, Ill., March 28, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This April the Society of Actuaries (SOA) will host a visit with chief actuaries and actuarial department heads representing the China Association of Actuaries (CAA). This first-time visit to the U.S. is part of an executive training exchange program between the CAA and the SOA.
From April 3 through April 15, the CAA members and CAA staff will participate in meetings and presentations in New York, Connecticut and Washington, D.C. During their two-week visit, they will meet with SOA leadership, SOA members, academics, students, actuarial candidates and major employers in the insurance industry. These CAA representatives will also present and share their perspectives, including at this year's Enterprise Risk Management Symposium, April 6-8 in Washington, D.C.
"On behalf of the SOA, I welcome these CAA representatives and my hope is that they gain new perspectives, ideas and experiences from this one-of-a-kind visit," said SOA President Craig Reynolds, FSA, MAAA. "This exchange program provides a chance for both SOA and CAA members to share and learn more about our similarities, our differences, and how we can all advance the actuarial profession."
In the summer of 2015, the SOA and CAA signed a memorandum of understanding, which outlined opportunities to communicate and work together, such as on research and actuarial training. In the near future, members from the SOA will participate in a similar type of executive training trip to China. Updates from this exchange program visit in the U.S. will be posted on www.SOA.org.
