The Society for Information Display And IHS Announce Keynote Speakers For Business Conference At Display Week 2013
CAMPBELL, Calif., May 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society for Information Display (SID), the leading global organization dedicated to the advancement of electronic display technology, in collaboration with IHS, today unveiled the keynote speakers for its Business Conference taking place during Display Week 2013 (May 19-24) in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The keynotes for this must-attend event are Zane Ball, Intel's vice president of architecture and general manager of PCCG global ecosystem development, and Mike Lucas, senior vice president at Sony Electronics.
The theme of this year's Business Conference is the identification of trends that can improve the health of the industry, and the keynote addresses focus on two of the most exciting areas of opportunity. It will kick off with Zane Ball giving a keynote that centers on "Touch Everywhere." Ball will examine the efforts to drive touch across a broad spectrum of computing platforms, including PCs, Ultrabooks, low-cost notebooks and all-in-one PCs—unlocking new opportunities for product differentiation and application areas.
As the second keynote of the day, Mike Lucas will focus on "4K and the Resolution Revolution." Specifically, he will discuss the "next big thing", 4K Ultra High Definition display technology and content, which offer four times the resolution of full HD. 4K technology and content has been available in projectors for home theaters since 2011 and is a staple in the cinema industry. 4K television displays are just making their entrance into the home. While the transition from HD to 4K somewhat mirrors the transition a decade ago from SD to HD, Lucas will assess the many significant differences as well, with the availability of native 4K content being paramount.
The Business Conference will be held on Monday, May 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Vancouver Convention Center. A networking cocktail reception will follow. For more information on how to register, visit www.displayweek.org. The cost to attend this event is $650; registered media may attend at no cost.
