The Shipyard Announces Formation Of Mediopolis
Partners with Tomorro and Jon Bond to Create First "Media Engineering Firm"
COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Shipyard, formed in 2013 to be the industry's most accountable marketing agency, announced today a partnership with Tomorro LLC, a marketing innovation consultancy led by media veteran Jon Bond, to create the world's first media engineering firm. "Mediopolis uses data to engineer a media driven customer acquisition machine that reaches consumers with mass personalization," said Bond, who will serve as Co-Chairman of the company. "It is simply the most effective way to plan and buy media today," he added.
Rick Milenthal, CEO of The Shipyard, will also serve as Co-Chairman of Mediopolis. "The future of all media is personalization. We must be totally relevant at each and every touchpoint. The balance of power has shifted squarely to the consumer, enhancing every day their ability to choose the messages they see," said Milenthal.
Mediopolis intends to displace the traditional media planning and buying firms serving blue chip marketers.
Pattie Glod, the former head of media for Victoria's Secret, will serve as President of Mediopolis. "I've joined the leadership team of Mediopolis because we represent what clients need today," said Glod. "We don't see our job as just planning and buying media. We see it as making our clients money. As building a machine where you put in $1 on one side and get $3 out the other."
The company has offices in New York, Columbus, and Newport Beach, California. The Columbus headquarters has a buzz more like a Wall Street trading floor than a media agency.
Ben Clarke, the President of The Shipyard, will serve as Chief Strategist of Mediopolis. "To achieve the apogee of media engineering means having a totally new set of technologies and talents than media agencies ever imagined," said Clarke. "We are geeks, quants, and techies. For many of us, this is the first experience in an agency environment. Data drives our convictions on behalf of our clients," he added.
Mediopolis starts day one with an impressive list of clients combined from The Shipyard and Tomorro. These include WD-40, Fantastic Sams, Scotts Lawn Service, Virgin Casinos, Alger Financial, Co-Op Financial Services, Donatos, American Electric Power, Sears Home Services and more.
