COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Shipyard, an independent marketing consultancy, has acquired Columbus-based design agency "Stream Digital." The move bolsters The Shipyard's web design, development and e-commerce capabilities while significantly complementing its "Engine Room" suite of services.
Based in Columbus, Ohio, Stream Digital launched in 2014 with a focus on digital, design and development. Terms of the deal are undisclosed.
Joining forces here will also contribute to the growth of The Shipyard's team of top talent. Stream Digital's Founder Todd Cameron joins as Managing Director of Digital Experience along with Creative Director Aaron Cook. Cameron is recognized as one of the top Design leaders in the country and was previously CEO of Fitch North America, WPP's top global retail and brand consultancy.
The Shipyard CEO Rick Milenthal comments: "This allows us to further differentiate The Shipyard and deliver on our promise of creating the world's first marketing engineering firm. Todd and his Team have an amazing track record at creating meaningful and impactful connections with consumers. They are a perfect complement to our expertise at the intersection of technology and creativity and will help us meet client demand for creating exceptional brand experiences."
The Shipyard has experienced exponential growth since its inception in 2013 and is creating digital transformation for the world's most significant brands – where high velocity content creation meets big data, where competitive strategy meets creative and disruptive advertising.
Stream Digital's Founder Todd Cameron adds: "I'm looking forward to partnering with Rick and the smart people at The Shipyard to build something special."
The Shipyard's announcement comes on the heels of a watershed year for acquisitions in the marketing sector. Over the past year, top tier consulting firms have expanded into marketing communications. IBM invested more than US$240m into Resource Ammirati, Aperto and ecx.io. Accenture spent $175m acquiring Karmarama in the UK. Deloitte invested creative shop, Heat.
