LOS ANGELES, June 27, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A Faire of the Heart, the annual fundraising gala of The Serra Project / Aid for AIDS, agencies of Alliance for Housing and Healing, is proud to announce its 2011 honorees, Barbara Lazaroff, Dr. David Hardy, and Holland Taylor. This year's A Faire of the Heart will be held on Wednesday, August 24th at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The 2011 honorees have greatly contributed to the fields of HIV/AIDS, homelessness, hunger and medical research.
Barbara Lazaroff will receive the Alliance for Housing & Healing's first annual Visionary Award, for her exemplary work as a tireless and award-winning designer, restaurateur, author, and philanthropist. Over the years, her varied charitable works have touched most every area of philanthropy, from humanitarian, social, and educational to environmental, artistic and medical. She led the production of a cookbook for People Living with HIV/AIDS and has been involved in a number of AIDS charities such as Project Angel Food's Divine Design, Dining Out For Life, and Aid for AIDS Go Eat LA among others.
Actress Holland Taylor will receive the first annual Aid for AIDS (AFA) Celebrity Trailblazer award for her long-standing support for social justice and HIV/AIDS. The AFA Celebrity Trailblazer Award acknowledges and celebrates individuals in theater, film and television who have significantly impacted the community through their personal contributions and professional portrayal of positive characters. Ms. Taylor's portrayals of powerful, self-assured, and deeply thoughtful leaders have encouraged self-respect, high ideals, and a desire to make a difference. She also has lent her time and talent, as well as provided financial support to fundraising events such as Best In Drag Show to raise money for Aid for AIDS.
W. David Hardy, M.D., will receive the first annual Alliance Humanitarian Award. Dr. Hardy is the Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases and the AIDS/Immunodeficiency Unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA. He has cared for persons with HIV since 1982 and has conducted research which has produced many of the life-saving treatments for HIV since 1984. Dr. Hardy serves or has served on the Board of Directors for the American Academy of HIV Medicine, Alliance for Housing and Healing, AIDS Project Los Angeles, and Project Angel Food. He was previously honored by the Los Angeles Shanti Foundation and Being Alive – Los Angeles for his service to the HIV community.
