The SCOOTER Store Employee Honored With Patriot Award
DoD Recognizes Lorie McFarland for Extraordinary Support of Company Employee serving in Army Reserves
NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas, March 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The SCOOTER Store, the nation's leading provider of power mobility solutions, announced that Lorie McFarland, Senior Manager Case File Development, was honored by a Department of Defense (DoD) organization, the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), at a recent event held at company headquarters in New Braunfels, TX.
McFarland accepted the Patriot Award from Roland A. Keller, Ombudsman for the Texas Committee of ESGR. McFarland received the award for her extraordinary support of company employee Megan Eichelberger who serves as a Sergeant in the Army reserves. Eichelberger is preparing for deployment for military duties.
"We applaud members of our military for their sacrifice in defending of our country. It is our honor and company policy to support employees serving in the military," said Mark Leita, Vice President of External Relations and Government Affairs for The SCOOTER Store. "We are very proud of Megan Eichelberger and we look forward to her safe return. We congratulate Mrs. McFarland for the Patriot Award recognition and the example that she sets for our company," added Leita.
The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation's call to serve. As reported by Keller: "It is a particularly meaningful award in that a company's own employee, who is as well a member of the Guard or Reserve, nominates their boss and company for the award, not the ESGR."
