The SC Johnson Young Leaders Scholarship Program Names Racine-area Recipients
Nearly $300,000 will be awarded this year
RACINE, Wis., June 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- SC Johnson is pleased to announce that the SC Johnson Young Leaders Scholarship program has awarded $295,000 in scholarships to students in the Racine Unified School District who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school. The program, now in its 10th year, granted 16 new scholarships and renewed 44 scholarships for the 2012/2013 academic year.

This year's recipients are Stephanie Blaha (Horlick High School), Tiffany Blaha (Horlick High School), Karmel Cardenas (Case High School), Jozlyn Collins (Park High School), Kennia Coronado (Horlick High School), Alexandria Curry (Case High School), Michael Guzman (Horlick High School), Frances Hilgenberg (Horlick High School), Abigail Lyon (Horlick High School), Antoinette Lyte-Evans (Horlick High School), Kanjana Namvech (Case High School), Kimberly Penza (Park High School), Krista Pfeiffer (St. Catherine's High School), Renee Shields (Horlick High School), Shawn Tuttle (The Prairie School) and Emmanuel Yang (Case High School).
SC Johnson established the program in 2002 and has assisted nearly 175 students with more than $2.8 million in scholarships paid since the program's inception. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must demonstrate economic need, have a minimum cumulative grade point average, and plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender or disability. Each recipient receives a scholarship of up to $5,000 with the ability to renew it for three additional years. The scholarships are awarded by the SC Johnson Fund, the grant-making arm of SC Johnson and the program is administered by Scholarship America.
