The Salvation Army and Allied Van Lines Partner to Celebrate National Moving Month
Allied Van Lines Encourages Customers to "Move for the Most Good"
ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- May is National Moving Month, and Allied Van Lines, one of the world's largest household goods moving companies, is excited to continue its exclusive charitable partnership with The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) by kicking off this month with a "Move for the Most Good" campaign. Nationwide, people on the move are encouraged to schedule a pickup with The Salvation Army to donate gently used clothing, electronics, furniture and household goods to be sold in the Army's Family Stores. Proceeds fund the nonprofit's adult rehabilitation program to give adults battling substance abuse a second chance.
"May is the kickoff of the busy moving season, meaning it's also a popular time to start cleaning out clothing and household items in preparation for a move," said Lesli Bertoli, VP and General Manager of Allied Van Lines. "We're proud to support The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers by educating our customers on the simple process for scheduling a pickup. Their donations not only reduce the numbers of items in their move, but they also have a life-changing impact on those in need."
"The Adult Rehabilitation Centers rely on the proceeds from The Salvation Army Family Stores to provide the proper resources to adults struggling to overcome the temptation to abuse a substance," said Lt. Col. Ron Busroe. "Since our partnership began in 2015, nearly 3,000 additional pickups have been scheduled. We're grateful for the visibility Allied Van Lines has brought to the program and look forward to a busy season."
The Salvation Army operates more rehabilitation facilities than any other group – private or public – in the country. Its Adult Rehabilitation Centers serve about 150,000 people annually and help repair the lives of those struggling with the temptation to abuse alcohol and drugs through a comprehensive process including work therapy, healthcare, education, counseling and more. To schedule a free pickup, call 1-800-SA-TRUCK or go to SATruck.org. To learn more about the partnership, visit https://www.allied.com/partners/salvation-army.
