NEW YORK, March 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- There is no shortage of awards for business disruptors among startups. These are typically investor-funded technology driven companies, launched by next-gen innovators. But what about the innovators within the traditional "old world" heritage companies, established before the year 2000, who are implementing radical changes in their companies to successfully compete in the "new world?"
Robin Lewis, founder and CEO of The Robin Report announced the launch of the company's Radicals Awards at a Retail Radicals event held last week at Shoptalk, in Las Vegas. In collaboration with SAP, the Awards will recognize and celebrate individuals who are transforming "old world" retail models, brands and other consumer-facing businesses.
According to Lewis, "We created the Radicals Awards to focus on individuals who frankly have a much higher hurdle than the so-called tech-driven upstarts. They must fight through entrenched bureaucracies, old world cultures and antiquated processes and structures to effect the radical change necessary to transform their companies into new world business models. This differentiates our awards program over all the others out there. And we believe these Radicals will be big winners."
"We are living in a shake-up moment of opportunity," added Lewis. "Those stores, malls and brands surviving the ultimate shakeout will transform their models, driven by dynamics they have never seen before. Simply speaking, a tech-armed consumer has flipped traditional commerce on its head. The Radicals who maneuver through the eye of this persistent perfect storm are bellwethers for the industry and will propel their companies into the future."
How the Awards Work
A total of 10 Radicals from retail and consumer-facing industries will be selected as candidates for the top three awards. The awards will culminate in March 2019 with an event celebrating all 10 finalists and revealing the three winners.
What Makes a Radical?
- Radicals have the courage, conviction and creativity to champion innovation in their organizations by understanding and activating the seismic power shift to the consumer. These change agents anticipate the future, recognize macro trends and snap their companies out of the past to create new models.|
- Radicals are driving fundamental strategic and structural transformations within their organizations to create new models. They innovate game changing partnerships, cultural shifts, sustainability strategies, and technologies to accelerate new consumer transactions and experiences.
- Radicals drive transformation strategically or structurally, to increase the value (including social values) that the new-world consumers are demanding. They are of any age or job title, or function.
Online applications for nominees is available at therobinreport.com. Deadline for submissions is December 23, 2018. A Robin Report editorial team will screen all nominations and select 10 Finalists. A finals peer jury will select the three winners who will be announced at an Awards celebration held in March 2019.
