Analyst Update: Expansion Plans, Guidance Updates, Partnerships, and Earnings
Reviewed by: Rohit Tuli, CFA®
The U.S. stocks ended lower on Friday, sending the S&P 500 index to its biggest monthly decline in a year, as an unexpected deceleration in the U.S. fourth quarter GDP growth raised concerns over the health of world's biggest economy, curbing appeal of the risky assets. A Commerce Department data on Friday showed that the U.S. economy grew at a slower-than-expected 2.6% annualized rate in the fourth quarter versus a 5% growth in the third quarter as businesses curbed spending while trade deficit widened. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 1.45% to close at 17,164.95, the S&P 500 fell 1.30% to close at 1,994.99, and the Nasdaq Composite slipped 1.03% to end at 4,635.24. European equities also ended lower on Friday as data showed that consumer prices in the euro area fell more than the forecasts in January, highlighting the challenges that European Central Bank faces in its battle with deflation. Meanwhile, Asian stocks edged up on Friday, taking cues from the Wall Street where stocks rose on back of strong earnings.
Vivint Solar, Inc. (Vivint Solar), a U.S.-based provider of residential solar energy systems, has announced plans to continue its expansion in 2015 with the opening of more than 20 new sales and operations offices in the states in which it currently operates.
Voxeljet AG (Voxeljet) has affirmed its full-year 2014 revenue guidance range of €15 million - €16 million. The Germany-based 3D printing solutions provider also announced its full-year 2015 revenue guidance.
Wabash National Corporation (Wabash) has raised its full-year 2014 sales and net income guidance range, buoyed by the better-than-expected new trailer shipments. Wabash said that 2014 new trailer shipments exceeded 57,300 units, as against the expectations of 54,500 to 56,000 units, driven by stronger than anticipated customer pick-ups in all areas of the business.
Wabco Holdings Inc. (Wabco) announced that its subsidiary Wabco India has renewed its commitment to Tata Motors' T1 PRIMA Truck Racing Championship in 2015. As a result, it will continue to serve as the official Braking Technology Partner to India's premier truck racing event.
Waters Corporation's (Waters) fourth quarter 2014 adjusted net profit surpassed the market expectations. Waters' non-GAAP net income for the quarter jumped to $1.99 per share from $1.70 per share in the year ago period.
