The U.S. stock market ended in red on Tuesday with energy stocks being the worst performers of the day. A less than expected December 2014 consumer confidence index (CCI) figure deterred investor confidence further. The DJIA declined 0.31%, S&P 500 dropped 0.49% and the Nasdaq Composite weakened 0.61% during the session. The European stock market also declined, led by weakness in energy companies as Brent oil fell to a five and a half year low on persistent concerns about a global supply glut. The Asian stock market closed broadly lower too. The Japanese government on Tuesday agreed to a tax reform, approving a plan to cut corporate taxes by 2.51 percentage point from April 2015 and then by another 0.78 percentage points in the following year, in an effort to spur economic growth.
