The Retreat Receives $250,000 From Otto Bremer Foundation
Grant Will Fund Residential Addiction Recovery Scholarships for Residents of Greater Minnesota
WAYZATA, Minn., Dec. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Retreat, which provides residential recovery services for individuals, families and communities affected by drug and alcohol dependency, received a $250,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation. The grant will provide scholarships to residents of Greater Minnesota providing access to The Retreat's effective residential program for addiction recovery.
"This initiative will open the door of recovery to people who are often overlooked," said John Curtiss, The Retreat's President and CEO. "Our model has always been to keep recovery affordable. This grant takes it a step further and removes price as a barrier for most of the Greater Minnesota population. We are here to help those who are still suffering with alcoholism and drug dependency and do not know where to go. We change lives."
Few problems impede the health and success of an individual more than addiction, and for communities outside of Metropolitan areas, the problem is worsened by isolation and the lack of resources. For 16 years, The Retreat has helped individuals struggling with addiction to build a new, sober life in recovery. Its high-outcome methods have been studied and replicated across the country and around the world. With this scholarship grant, The Retreat will be able offer the hand of affordable recovery to its own back yard, Greater Minnesota.
"The Otto Bremer Foundation is pleased to support The Retreat," said Daniel Reardon, Otto Bremer Foundation co-CEO and trustee. "The services it provides are truly life changing and are an important resource for people in recovery."
Since 1998, The Retreat has helped more than 16,000 people access a life of meaningful and productive recovery. Its results are among the best in the field of recovery, yet its costs are a fraction of conventional treatment. A 30-day residential stay at The Retreat costs $4,700; conventional treatment can cost upwards of $30,000 to $50,000. This scholarship gift from the Otto Bremer Foundation is thus a highly cost-effective way of addressing the problem of addiction across the state of Minnesota.
