HOUSTON, March 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ClubCorp President and CEO Eric Affeldt, recently listed in Golf Inc.'s "Most Powerful People in Golf," announces a dramatic multimillion-dollar makeover at KINGWOOD COUNTRY CLUB.
The Kingwood reinvention project includes a contemporary new look and amenities, along with new programming and initiatives, putting the club in step with the next generation of private club members and families.
"Over the past five years, Dallas-based ClubCorp has reinvested almost $300 million in a variety of clubs in the ClubCorp family throughout the country," said Eric Affeldt, ClubCorp President and CEO. "We've long considered Kingwood one of our flagships and our multimillion-dollar capital investments here are designed to match members' changing lifestyles and interests. Much of our focus has been placed on the areas of family programming, fitness and wellness, enhanced player development, and building connections within the surrounding communities."
Kingwood Country Club, in the heart of the Kingwood community, has long been known for its outstanding golf. The club features five 18-hole golf courses and was named the "Best Family Club" in the state for several years running by Avid Golfer magazine. Renovations include rebuilding of greens on three of the five courses and the new additions at the Golf Advantage School, one of Houston's largest golf teaching centers. The club also offers an extensive year-round junior golf program that utilizes the Golf Advantage School amenities, the Marsh Course – a U.S. Kids Golf Family course – and a full staff of teaching professionals led by Aurora Kirchner-McClain, named 2011 Junior Leader of the Year by the South Texas PGA Section.
The recently opened water park offers adult and family pools, water slides, a splash pad and a lazy river. The expansive fitness and sports center, which opened September 2008, includes a complete workout area with cutting-edge fitness equipment, a day spa, a private group exercise studio, complete locker rooms, and a Kids' Club for the youngsters.
This multimillion-dollar renovation will offer more opportunities to relax and have fun, network and enjoy new dining features. In conjunction with recent club improvements and new programming, the extensive renovations will allow Kingwood Country Club to answer the needs of the changing lifestyles of today's members and their families.
Improvements include:
- NEW bar and grill, perfect for socializing
- NEW family dining room
- NEW covered outdoor patio and fire table
- NEW high-tech media lounge – catch the playoffs or watch current events
- NEW men's and women's restrooms
- NEW updates to the men's locker room and the banquet areas
- NEW pro shop and outdoor pavilion
"This is an exciting time for the club," said Patrick Pettit, general manager. "The renovation doesn't just represent a redesign of the facility but a reinvention of the club's culture by making it more relevant and vibrant, a fun hub for the community."
Steve Wilson, Board Member of Kingwood Country Club, said, "Kingwood members are ecstatic about the much-anticipated reinvention of the clubhouse facilities. The club has been a great gathering spot with stellar golf courses, great tennis, state-of-the-art fitness and a family fun water park. Now a newly reborn clubhouse will provide members an even more enjoyable experience. Kingwood country club will continue a long tradition as the place to play in Kingwood."
Kingwood Country Club also now offers two new membership opportunities: O.N.E. (Optimal Network Experiences) a program that combines a comprehensive array of club, community and world benefits, and the Young Executive (YEX) program, specifically designed for those under the age of 40 and provides an unprecedented level of access to a network of up to nine private clubs in the ClubCorp family across the Houston area.
