According to the Center for American Progress, "Food insecurity and hunger....harm the U.S. economy, hinder educational advancement, and increase health care spending."
Oklahoma has consistently ranked among the top ten states with the highest number of people who go hungry and who are uninsured. "This partnership makes perfect sense when you think about what we can help accomplish together," says Regional Food Bank Executive Director Rodney W. Bivens.
"People who are struggling economically are often forced to make difficult decisions. Sometimes it's health related and at other times it's about feeding their families. That should never be the case," says Watertree Health CEO & founder, Matt Herfield.
Across the country, Watertree Health has implemented similar programs with other food banks.
