The Princeton Review Ranks Simmons School of Management #1 in the Nation for 'Greatest Opportunity for Women'
BOSTON, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Simmons School of Management, the only AACSB-accredited business school in the world offering an MBA program designed specifically for women, has again been named by The Princeton Review as the No. 1 MBA program in the U.S. with the “greatest opportunity for women.” Simmons School of Management is the only Boston-based MBA program to rank in this category on the 2011 list.
The ranking is part of “The Best 300 Business Schools” 2011 guidebook and based on The Princeton Review’s survey of 19,000 students attending the 300 business schools profiled in the book. The Princeton Review editors describe the Simmons School of Management as having a “unique reputation for principled leadership,” which draws in students “interested in sustainability, ethics, and other social aspects of management.” Students from the Simmons MBA program were quoted as saying: “the quality of the network of current and former students is among the school’s best assets.” Students also said that they are “constantly amazed by the level of intellect in conversation inside and outside the classroom.”
“Simmons School of Management has a long-standing commitment to delivering innovative programs that educate women to be principled leaders,” said Interim Dean Deborah Marlino. “It is an honor to be selected from the top business schools in the world as the MBA program that best prepares women for success in business.”
Robert Franek, SVP of Publishing at The Princeton Review, said the Simmons School of Management is “… one of the best institutions readers could attend to earn an MBA. We chose the 300 business schools based on our opinion of their academic programs and offerings, as well as our review of institutional data we collect from the schools. We also strongly consider the candid opinions of students who rate and report their experience at their schools.”
Ranked as one of the top 50 socially responsible business programs by the Aspen Institute and among the top 25 programs for entrepreneurship in the nation by Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review, the Simmons School of Management offers unique management and leadership programs for women of diverse backgrounds at all phases of their careers. The school’s offerings include undergraduate and graduate management programs; an entrepreneurship program for new business venture creation; and leadership development programs for mid-to senior-level managers. The Simmons School of Management serves as a resource to leading corporations through its research and consulting services and the Center for Gender in Organizations.
The Simmons School of Management is the first business school in the world designed specifically to educate women for power and principled leadership. It is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a distinction earned by fewer than 30% of business schools in the U.S. and fewer than 5% worldwide. Reflecting its commitment to sustainability, the school is housed in a building that received Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. Simmons College is a nationally recognized private university located in the heart of Boston.
