The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania Presents "Teenie Harris - A Retrospective" on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at Noon at the Engineers Club, 337 Fourth Ave., Downtown
PITTSBURGH, Feb. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Carnegie Museum of Art this past year unveiled a groundbreaking exhibition to celebrate the work of the renowned Pittsburgh Courier photographer and legend. This program offers an insider's view of selecting the exhibited photographs from the museum's nearly 80,000-negative archive of Teenie Harris' work and paying tribute to his legacy of compiling one of the most complete portraits anywhere of the 20th-century African-American experience.
Attendees will also find out more about a project mirroring Teenie Harris' work by Post-Gazette photographers Rebecca Droke and Bill Wade, who photographed and interviewed 20 people the famed photographer captured decades ago.
Program participants: Tony Norman, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette columnist and editorial board member; Louise Lippincott, Carnegie Museum of Art curator of fine arts; and Rebecca Droke and Bill Wade, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette photographers. Rod Doss, editor and publisher, New Pittsburgh Courier, will serve as moderator.
