The Premier Basketball League Announces Paul Carter as the Director of Officials; Referee Training and Certification Camp Set for August 27th - 28th, 2011

CHICAGO, July 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Premier Basketball League is proud and excited to announce its new Director of Officials, Paul Carter. Carter brings to the PBL over 16 years of officiating experience and has worked in various college and minor league settings over the past 12 years.

When we were scouting for our new Director of Officials, there was no question about Paul's credentials. Carter grew up in a basketball family and started playing the sport at an early age. When Carter wasn't on the basketball court, he was watching it. Eventually, Carter switched gears and began to focus solely on officiating. As a referee, he has officiated games in over 27 US states, as well as Canada and Puerto Rico. In addition, Carter has participated in over 100 referee camps.

The Premier Basketball League will host tryouts for interested on-court officials for the upcoming 2012 PBL season in conjunction with the National Combine and Tryouts. It is mandatory for candidates to attend one of the tryouts to be considered to be an official for the 2012 season. Officials that have worked past seasons are encouraged to attend tryout. Although it is not mandatory, it will help your process of how many game assignments you will receive for the 2012 season.

Pre-registration is required. Officials may download the registration form online by visiting www.thePBL.com starting the week of July 25th, 2011

Registration fee is 50.00. This must arrive in the League office no later than August 15th. Send your officiating resume along with check or money order made out to "The Premier Basketball League" should be mailed to:

Officials are advised to arrive at 11:00am to sign in and get dressed. Black pants or shorts and your zebra stripes should be your attire.
