The Premier Basketball League and @SportsTV Bring Fans Game Coverage in Over 67 Million Homes Nationwide
CHICAGO, Dec. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- With the Premier Basketball League's (PBL) season tipping off this weekend in Rochester, NY, fans will be excited to know that games will be easily accessible on major cable and satellite providers throughout the country. With the PBL's partnership with @SportsTV, featured PBL games will be available from the comfort of fans' homes, computers, and mobile devices.
The PBL and @SportsTV have partnered to broadcast games live to over 60% of the country. This coverage allows avid fans to follow their teams even if they cannot make it out to the game. @SportsTV will be broadcast live in all 211 designated market areas reaching 67,177,694 television households.
"We are excited to be the first professional minor league sports organization to have a national television contract going into the 2012 season. During the NBA Lock-Out we were considered at the time by NBA-TV to have PBL games broadcasted on their network. After they previewed a game from last year's finals, the network informed us that we were direct competition to the NBA's D-League. We certainly took this as a great compliment and understood why they chose not to broadcast our games," commented Brij Desai, PBL President and CEO.
PBL games will be featured on television network providers such as Dish Network via Pay Per View and Video On Demand, Punch Television Network, and broadcast groups including Legacy TV, and Omniverse. Additional outlets include PBL apps on all 20+ Android operating systems, Seen On Demand, FlimOn.com, iPoint Television and Glory Star.
The Premier Basketball League tips off regular season play on New Year's Eve with the Rochester RazorSharks hosting the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Steamers at 7:05pm EST at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. @SportsTV will carry 10 PBL regular season games throughout the 2012 season and the network will also carry the PBL Finals complete with translated international simulcasting.
