The Paley Center for Media Announces New PaleyImpact Program: Television and Our Enduring Fascination with Space Travel
- Sixty years after Alan Shepard became the first American in space, and amid a time of incredible innovation, the Paley Center for Media convenes astronauts and journalists to discuss the enduring connection between television and our fascination with space travel.

NEW YORK, Dec. 9, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- The Paley Center for Media announces today its latest PaleyImpact, Television and Our Enduring Fascination with Space Travel, to examine how journalism and scripted entertainment bring the adventure and excitement of space travel to life across television and streaming media. This event is made possible by the generous support from The Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation.
The program will debut on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 12:00 pm ET / 9:00 am PT on the Paley Center's YouTube channel. Participants include Hayley Arceneaux, Inspiration4 Crew Member, cancer survivor, and the youngest American ever to go into space; Dr. Sian Proctor, Inspiration4 Crew Pilot, Geoscientist, and Space Artist; Victor Glover, Commander, US Navy, NASA Astronaut and Pilot of the 2021 Crew-1 Space X Mission Resilience; Mark Strassmann, CBS News Senior National Correspondent. The conversation will be moderated by Tom Costello, NBC's Chief Aviation & Space Correspondent.
