The Overnight Walk to Fight Suicide in San Francisco - Press Registration Opens
SAN FRANCISCO, April 25, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk is the largest annual fundraising event held by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Thousands of participants from across the country walk more than 16 miles from sunset until sunrise to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention in San Francisco. Annually, we lose nearly 42 thousand people a year to suicide, which means someone in the country dies by suicide every 12.8 minutes. Over twice as many people die by suicide than by homicide in California. Through this event, AFSP funds research, offers educational programs, advocates for public policy, and supports those affected by suicide.
