The Overnight Walk to Fight Suicide in New York - Press Registration Opens
NEW YORK, April 25, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Overnight Walk is the largest annual fundraising event held by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Thousands of participants from across the country walk more than 16 miles from sunset until sunrise to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention in New York City. Annually, we lose nearly 42 thousand people a year to suicide, which means someone in the country dies by suicide every 12.8 minutes. In New York, someone dies by suicide every five hours. Through this event, AFSP funds research, offers educational programs, advocates for public policy, and supports those affected by suicide.
DATE: June 4 – 5, 2016
TIME: 7 p.m. – Opening ceremony begins (Saturday)
7:30 p.m. – Walk begins (Saturday)
5 a.m. – Closing ceremony begins (Sunday)
