The Overnight Walk in Dallas - Press Registration Opens
DALLAS, April 3, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Overnight is the largest annual fundraising event held by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Thousands of participants from across the country will walk more than 16 miles from sunset until sunrise to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention in Dallas. Annually, we lose nearly 42 thousand people a year to suicide, someone in the country dies by suicide every 12.8 minutes. In Texas, suicide is the 12th leading cause of death overall. On average more than twice as many people die by suicide in Texas annually than by homicide. Through this event, AFSP funds research, offers educational programs, advocates for public policy, and supports those affected by suicide.
