The conference is produced by OneTaste, a San Francisco based organization that teaches the practice of Orgasmic Meditation (OM) and its surrounding philosophies on relationships, communication, and sexuality. Practitioners of OM report they experience higher levels of energy, increased vitality and increased libido.
The three-day conference is centered on the science and medical benefits of orgasm, with presentations on the benefits of Orgasmic Meditation from Medical Doctors. Stanford-trained MD, Pooja Lakshmin, of Rutgers University will share new research findings that specifically relate to the benefits of a regular Orgasmic Meditation (OM) practice.
"We see benefits in mood, sleep, and energy. We also see that people who have a practice are able to heal from past emotional traumas. We are researching and studying the scientific basis of this phenomenon, and we do know that orgasm is associated with a spike in oxytocin, and a decrease in cortisol. Cortisol is a stress hormone in our body, and when elevated is associated with high blood sugar, diabetes, increased belly fat, brain changes like atrophy of the hippocampus (where memory is synthesized), depression, insomnia and poor wound healing. Oxytocin is a hormone and a neurotransmitter that transmits information through the nervous system. Often nicknamed the love hormone, it is released in large quantities during orgasm, as well as childbirth and breast-feeding, and acts on a vast number of receptors in the brain. Dopamine is the reward neurotransmitter. When activated, it provides an immediate rush of pleasurable sensation." - Pooja Lakshmin MD
Dr. Sara Gottfried, a Harvard-trained MD and author of the New York Times bestseller, The Hormone Cure, has said "I consider OM a crucial addition to the language of female empowerment and experience. Perhaps most important, OM may be the best treatment available for our stress-crazed lives and overtaxed adrenal glands. It may just be the best possible hormone therapy for women of all ages."
Dr. Anna Cabeca, a board certified Gynecologist and Obstetrician, as well as board certified in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine, and expert in Functional Medicine, has said "As a women's sexual health expert, I recommend OM to all my women. Orgasmic Meditation is such an important part of reviving and reconnecting with your genital health and your entire sensations of being alive in a sexual, energetic way....Integrating this easy, gentle practice in to your daily life is reviving and an amazing reconnection that I hear from women. It completely transforms their day, their energy, and helping them restore their sexual energy. Whatever state of health they start in, this is a way to reconnect and restore that vital energy."
The Founder of OneTaste and Orgasmic Meditation and the Author of Slow Sex: the Art and Craft of Female Orgasm, Nicole Daedone, will also lecture at the conference, as will Senior Faculty Coach, Ken Blackman, and many others. There will be Orgasmic Meditation training and breakout sessions on various aspects of OM practice and its philosophy, including the eight stages of Orgasm and the ten pleasure spots on the clitoris.
The conference is open to everyone, no matter if they've never heard of the practice before. More information on the conference can be found at http://thetimefororgasm.us/
