The One Show Reveals New Format for 2014
The One Show is once again one show
NEW YORK, March 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The One Club (www.oneclub.org), producers of the prestigious One Show Awards, today announced a new format for the awards ceremony. The One Club has combined all disciplines into one awards show, The One Show, which will take place on Friday, May 9th at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.
The One Show will award Gold Pencils, the pinnacle of creative achievement, across all disciplines on the evening of May 9th, capping off a weeklong festival of events and exhibitions taking place during Creative Week (www.creativeweek.com). Silver and Bronze Pencils will be honored during special ceremonies throughout the week: One Show – Design, along with print and collateral, will take place on Monday, May 5th; One Show – Interactive will take place on Wednesday, May 7th; One Show – Branded Entertainment will take place on Thursday, May 8th; and One Show – Advertising will take place on Friday, May 9th.
"The One Show is now the single most important day in advertising and design," said Mary Warlick, CEO of The One Club. "The new format holds true to The One Club's enduring mission, which is to maintain the highest standard for creative excellence. While some of our competitors continue to add shows in order to penetrate new markets and verticals, we take a different approach: Honoring and presenting the world's best in purest form. You will not find higher quality creative work anywhere else in the world, at any other show, than at The One Show on May 9th."
"The One Show is now completely media-agnostic, honoring the very best creative work across disciplines, including advertising, interactive, design and branded entertainment," said Kevin Swanepoel, President of The One Club. "We've taken these disciplines out of their respective silos, and will honor them side by side. Awarding Gold Pencils from all media on the same platform reflects how the creative industry has evolved and elevates the top work in each discipline."
The One Show was established in 1973. As the industry evolved, new disciplines were created: Interactive in 1997, Design in 2001, Branded Entertainment in 2008, and Intellectual Property & Products in 2014. The One Show has received over 21,200 entries for the 2014 season, up 1,200 entries from last year. Over 60 countries were represented. The One Show is considered by many to be the most prestigious awards show in advertising and design.
