The On Demand division of Veolia Transportation Acquires Unified Dispatch LLC
PHOENIX, Oct. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The On Demand division of Veolia Transportation announced today it has acquired Unified Dispatch LLC (UDI) based in Altadena, CA for an undisclosed amount.
UDI is the largest call center technology provider in the taxi and paratransit ground transportation sector and Veolia On Demand includes SuperShuttle, ExecuCar and Golden Touch of New York and Compass Transportation in San Francisco and taxi companies across the US.
"Veolia was impressed by the team and technology built by Unified Dispatch LLC. Their IVR and call center technologies are widely used and highly regarded and we look forward to the additional technologies they will bring to market," said Brian Wier, CEO and President of the On Demand division for Veolia Transportation.
"We are very excited to become part of the On Demand division," said Dan Tamkin, Founder and President of Unified Dispatch. "We've been working closely with the On Demand Division to develop IntelliRide, a new technology linking taxi and paratransit fleets to reduce the cost of fulfilling paratransit rides. IntelliRide tracks outsourced trips in real-time so they are connected, tracked, and monitored. We know we have a great partner in On Demand and we are looking forward to continuing to support our existing customers, grow our call center technologies, and expand our technology base."
Unified Dispatch LLC will be run as a separate division of On Demand and continue to be managed by Dan Tamkin. All of the Unified Dispatch LLC team has also been retained.
"This acquisition is our first technology based acquisition and is the first of a new stream of acquisitions we hope to make in the next few years," said Wier. "The ground transportation sector in the U.S. continues to grow and On Demand is strategically positioned to continue to build market share across all segments of the On Demand field including taxi, shared-ride and paratransit, and we welcome our newest partner in technology."
