The Oaks Club Receives 'Distinguished Emerald' Honor Reflecting Its Exceptional Member Experience
OSPREY, Fla., Feb. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Oaks Club (www.theoaksclub.com) recently received the "Distinguished Emerald Club of the World" award from BoardRoom magazine, the only residential country club community in West Central Florida to receive the publication's highest honor.
"A Distinguished Emerald Club must provide a member experience at a level only attained by the finest private clubs in the world," said Jeff R. Hartigan, CCM, general manager/chief operating officer. "In 2013 we were named a Distinguished Gold Club, awarded to the top 6 percent of all clubs, reflecting our commitment to providing an outstanding personalized member experience. We have now moved up into the top 4 percent of all private clubs."
In addition, Golf Digest has recognized The Oaks Club for the redesign of its Heron Course by Hurdzan/Fry Environmental Golf Design. The Heron Course was one of 11 U.S. courses honored in the fifth annual American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) Design Excellence Recognition Program for addressing unique design challenges. State-of-the-art infrastructure was implemented for the Heron Course, with drainage, bunkers and greens that have since weathered tropical storms and a hurricane.
"Congratulations to these tremendous golf facilities, as well as the architects who provided their talent and expertise," ASGCA Vice President John Sanford said. "Once again this year, the projects highlighted by the Design Excellence Recognition Program show the positive impact a well-designed facility has for golfers."
Another chapter in The Oaks Club's journey towards excellence will occur in late March with the opening of the new $2.5 million WellFit fitness and wellness center. The 7,500 sq. ft. WellFit Center will offer members all elements of cardiovascular and strength training along with room for group classes, treatment rooms for massage and physical therapy coupled with locker room amenities and personal training. Located above the Cart Barn, the new center will also offer panoramic views of the club's Eagle and Heron Championship Golf Courses.
"This is the final piece of The Oaks Club puzzle," said Ollie Johnson, Co-Chairman of the WellFit Committee and member of the Board. "No other Sarasota private gated community within 10 minutes of the world's best beaches will offer the amenities The Oaks Club community will have for prospective homeowners and its members."
