The New Epicurious Unveils As The First-Ever Food Utility
NEW YORK, Feb. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- When Conde Nast launched Epicurious 20 years ago, it became the first-ever recipe website. Now, with a bold new design, innovative functionality, and a highly curated recipe database, it reinvents the category.
As the ultimate food resource, Epicurious will provide the best recipes on the Web, with content from Food 52 and HarperCollins Publishers, and go beyond the search box by personalizing results based on who the user is. Epicurious will complement these technical advancements with high-quality service journalism and original photography that thoroughly engage and help the home cook.
"Epicurious is building a best-of-the-Web food utility through premium partnerships, enriching its already enormous collection of recipes. Advertisers want the best platform with the broadest reach, and the new Epicurious, with its rich content, new technology, and more than 26 million consumers, is just that," says Pamela Drucker Mann, publisher and chief revenue officer of Bon Appetit & Epicurious |The Food Innovation Group. "We are introducing the new Epicurious with the Food Forecast, developed just for this launch with the Weather Channel, it serves up recipes based on local weather conditions."
On February 3, the new food utility will offer consumers:
- Dynamic responsive design customized for desktop, tablet, and mobile.
- Re-launched versions of the award-winning mobile and tablet apps for IOS and Windows.
- New products such as "Cook It," an interactive tool that predicts what users want to cook based on their personal tastes.
- Original features and galleries celebrating what it means to put dinner on the table in 2015. The launch package "How to Cook Now" includes exclusive recipes that the user can cook in 22 minutes or less; the secret to making a Shake Shack burger at home; and 57 ways to become a better home cook instantly.
Epicurious launch sponsors are Lexus, Nutella, and JCPenney.
The #NewEPI is being led by Eric Gillin (@ericgillin), the site's executive director, who was promoted to that role in September.
"This is a whole new Epicurious," Gillin says. "Tens of millions of people already love and use Epi, but we're taking this site in a bold new direction that will reinvent the category by providing users with a curated, high-quality experience. "
The Epicurious re-launch is the largest one to roll out on the Copilot platform, an in-house content management system created by Conde Nast Digital.
