The Nature Conservancy and Crystal Light® Host Potomac River Events Over Columbus Day Weekend
DC-Area Residents Are Encouraged to Attend Invasive Plant Removal Events on October 7 & 11
TARRYTOWN, N.Y., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following event was announced today by Crystal Light:
WHAT:
- On October 7 & 11, The Nature Conservancy of MD/DC – with support from Crystal Light – will host invasive plant removal events along the Potomac River. The events will allow residents to help cut down exotic invasive shrubs and vines along the river that threaten the native plants in the Potomac Gorge.
- The Potomac Gorge — the 15-mile section of the Potomac River between Great Falls and Theodore Roosevelt Island — is one of the most significant natural areas in the entire National Park System but is threatened by population growth and land use changes in its watershed.
- Interested participants must sign-up for the event by contacting Mary Travaglini at [email protected].
- As part of a year-long collaboration, Crystal Light is supporting The Nature Conservancy, a leading conservation organization working around the world to protect nature, to support freshwater resources like the Potomac River.

- Thursday, October 7, beginning at 10 a.m., rain or shine
AND
- Monday, October 11 (Columbus Day), beginning at 10 a.m., rain or shine
