DETROIT, Feb. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Once again, Michigan leads the nation with its support of Service Disabled and Veteran Owned Businesses (SD/VOBs) as the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) officially recognizes the National Veteran Business Development Council's (NVBDC) certification process for veteran owned companies.
"On a totally new level of involvement and support of our Corporate Sponsors and our certified Veteran Owned Businesses, the MEDC along with the NVBDC has created a portal for our sponsors to post opportunities on http://michigan-b2b.nvbdc.org/. By acknowledging NVBDC's certification process, veteran business owners will now receive a 7-day advance notification of potential corporate purchasing needs. By accessing the newly established Web portal (Pure Michigan Business Connect), corporations and companies will be able to identify mutual business prospects," stated Keith King, President, NVBDC. He continued by saying, "This purchasing preference appears to not only be the first state-supported 'Buy Veteran' program but by far the most inclusive!"
The MEDC has seen, firsthand, the support that many corporations have given to certified veteran businesses in Michigan. And to encourage more SD/VOBs to participate in these opportunities, they have agreed to allow ALL OF THE NVBDC CERTIFIED VETERAN COMPANIES NATIONWIDE to participate in this incredible initiative.
Corporate America is also a very large supporter of the NVBDC accreditation program, including General Motors, Ford, AT&T, Kellogg's, JP Morgan Chase, 3M, CPI, DMS and Consumers Energy.
