The National Parkinson Foundation Welcomes Two New Board Members

MIAMI, July 8, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) announced the election of two new members to its Board of Directors: James F.T. Monhart and Robert M. Melzer.

"Both Jim and Bob bring an extraordinary passion for Parkinson's disease, along with tremendous skills and personal networks to help advance the mission," stated John W. Kozyak, Esq., NPF Chairman of the Board. "Their combined professional expertise and philanthropic commitment is a valuable addition."  He noted that NPF plans to add more board members around the country to reflect the national footprint of the foundation.

James F.T. Monhart was elected to the board in March 2014. Mr. Monhart is the Chief Risk Officer for Wealth Management for Northern Trust's private wealth business. He has also held the role of Senior Vice President since 1998. Mr. Monhart serves on several boards including: Youth Guidance, DePaul University-Center for Financial Services, and he is a member of the advisory council for the Northwestern University Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center. He resides in Chicago and holds an MBA in Finance from Washington University.

Robert M. Melzer was elected to the board in June 2014. Mr. Melzer has had a long career in real estate investing including serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Property Capital Trust in Boston. He was formerly Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and also served as interim CEO.  He has held numerous directorships in both business and philanthropic ventures. He resides in Brookline, MA and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
