Homestead which historically has been the agricultural center of South Florida has seen, according to US Census figures, explosive population growth of almost ninety percent in the past decade. With over seventy percent of the population being Latino and over thirty five percent having been born outside the United States the city reflects the emerging demographics of the United States.
